STEPHANIE STEIN

NOCH NICHT

May 7 – June 30, 2016

First introduced to Athens with her minimal sculptural installation during the group show THE END, her work O.T. (2013), a linear structure in black painted wood was one of her first sculptures exhibited out of Germany and the prelude to a constant presence in the international art scene.

Stein’s sculptures and installations are delicately minimalist and the materials she uses are always humble: wood, metal, graphite and paint. In her work, Stein considers the light and shadows in parallel with space, which lead to an alteration of the space.

In NOCH NICHT (Not Yet) she presents a  body of works that consists of a video, a print and wall mounted sculptural installations.

Stephanie Stein (b. 1972 Kiel, Germany) studied at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf (under Prof. Rosemarie Trockel), at the Cooper Union School for the Advanced Science and Art, New York, USA and, at the Gerrit Rietveld Akademie, Amsterdam. Recent shows include “Jahresgabenausstellung” Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne; “Maison de Plaisance/Jardins des Plaisirs”, Museum Morsbroich, Leverkusen and, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin.
