Qbox gallery opens Nina Papa's solo exhibition on Thursday 2nd of March at 8.00pm. The artist presents photographic reproductions of Athenian public spaces hanging them in a way of creating an entirety. Within this total we recognise familiar spaces that may be part of any citizen's everyday life, since it mainly consists of the city's central streets, points that everyone has related to at times.
The observer records, on every photograph/ image, the points which he/ she consciously focused on while noting down the timing of focus on each one. The moment is inscribed in order to underline the distinction of his/ her interest's intensity caused by the lapse of time of his/ her visit in due time and space. Beyond the manual imprint of an observer's thoughts, revelations of other observers are aligned, ones who have visited the same space at different times. Through these successive personal documentations, the individual's diversity and the multiple importance of a place are revealed.
The entirety of images constitutes an effort of conscious documentation of known and "familiar" city points. They are redefined by this process and thereafter they expose, in a more or less restless manner, our daily lives.
